Archive for the ‘My Life’

Looking Back…

17.5 days of school left (not including weekends) is something to be excited about!

But what were my highlights of the year?

  • The heritage fair was fun becuase I did a project on my Other Nanny (Great Grandmother)’s family and her life. I wrote a book that was in the form of a journal that my Other Nanny’s older sister Veronica wrote. I never knew a lot about her family, but it became a lot more important to me when something happened…
  • Our juggling routines for PE! We created a rountine in groups and we got a laugh out of it. (Don’t ask).
  • That very special day when Sophie and I decided we were going to make a show. We were watching an episode of Miley and Mandy show on my iPod, and we decided we are going to make random movies of funny randomness.
  • When we went to Hornby it was really fun and I really want to do everything again! I liked High Ropes the best even though I was scared to death of it!

These are the highlights of my year!

A Hero

‘Hero’ can be defined in many ways but a true hero is born a leader.

A hero doesn’t have to be well known, though it doesn’t hurt. A hero does good things for others and always tries their best in everything they do. Heroes find a way to be inspiring, brave and courageous, as well as looking out for others and setting a good example. A hero can be anyone; they can be a relative, a friend, or someone you don’t even know. If I ever had a hero in my life it would be someone who had most or even all of these qualities.

Song Choice Mission Completed!

I was having serious issues trying to find a song for this round (Semifinals) of Valley Idol, and I was up until 11:00 last night trying to find one with my dad. I finally found “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles! I am so excited for the performance this weekend! I was origianlly doing “Don’t You Wish It Was True” by John Fogerty, but the Valley Idol administrators couldn’t find the backtrack, since the music when you sing at the performances is kareoke. I was a little dissapointed but I found something I liked and that’s “Love Song”! The performance is this weekend, and along with Rebecca, Catie, and my friends Emily and Avery, I perform on Saturday!

Inspiration (La La La!)

New song idea!

Dad was teaching himself some song on the guitar using a guitar chord wedsite, I jumped on the matresses that was behind him while he was playing, and got a great idea in my head! I ran upstairs and grabbed my pink songbook. I sat down on my bed and suddenly went quiet. I just listened to the lines rolling around in my head…

My hand wrote faster than my mind wrote the words. It was going to be the best song ever! It was perfect…

Oh great, I thought. I was jsut missing this one last verse. I couldn’t think of the right words to put in the song, and I was trying and trying to coem up with the verse, but it was very difficult. Right then and there, while I was thinking hard, A-HA! I got it! All I neded was the right inspiration!

Now, where to get it?

6 Things That Make Me Happy

I was tagged by Marnie to write about the 6 things that make me happy. Well, there’s lots of them, but here’s my top six:

  1. Spending time with family. There’s nothing like spending time with my family!
  2. Listening to music. (You can see a post about my favourite songs here) I enjoy singing along to some of my favorite songs and I guess music just makes me happy!
  3. Dancing. From musical theatre to Ukrainian dance, I love them all!
  4. Singing. Guess what? Exciting news! You know how I was in Valley Idol last year, and made it to the semi-finals? (more about that in another post…) Well, I made it there this year too! Rebecca, Catie and I all made it!
  5. Lauging. When I laugh I am having a good time and usually I laugh with my family and friends.
  6. Reading/Writing. This is fun because I like to read books adn blogs and get ideas, then write my own story that is based on what I’ve read!

February… The Month Of Sickness…

…and my BIRTHDAY! A few days ago was my birthday and I was sick. No, wait, I am still sick! My mom had had enough of my little coughs (and what she predicted were fevers) since it’d been almost 3 weeks of it, so we scheduled a doctors appointment. The doctor typed down what I told her that I was feeling. She said that I would need a series of tests to be done to confirm what I had.

“What kind of tests?”

I heard ‘bloodwork‘.

“A needle?”

Yes. A needle. ICK. But this wasn’t like the shots I get to prevent horrible sicknesses, it’s the kind so they can see what kind of sickness you have. I was pretty scared about the needle, but trust me, it really wasn’t that bad.

So, one morning I had to take the morning off school so we could go to the hospital to get the bloodwork done. It was horrifying at first and I kept pulling my arm away, until the nurse told me the funniest joke I have EVER HEARD!! I laughed so hard that I stopped trembling and I think I squeezed my Mom’s hand really, really tight, but I don’t remember her saying “ouch!” at all, so I kept squeezing!

Well, the needle went in and the was a long, long clear tube type thing connected to the needle, and I saw red liquid rush up into it fast. I remember thinking, “Oh, that must be my blood… my BLOOD?!?!” There were a few tubes that the blood was filling up into. Finally, the needle was pulled out. I was so relieved, it wasn’t even funny.

Well it wasn’t funny to start with, was it.

Weekend, Please Come Soon!

I’m so excited for this weekend! But, why…?

Because this weekend is the… (dramatic pause)… wait for it, wait for it… VALLEY IDOL AUDITIONS!!!!!!! Yes, yes, thank you, thank you, but what to sing?

I can’t believe that it’s this weekend! I don’t even know what to sing, but I’ve been searching my iPod for songs. I have a few possibilities…

  • Breathe by Taylor Swift
  • Don’t you WIsh It Was True by John Fogerty
  • Born To Fly by Sara Evans

What do you think? If you haven’t heard these songs, give me a suggestion!

Okay, I’m also excited because tomorrow is my cousin Kierra’s BIRTHDAY! I won’t get to see her on her birthday, but maybe she’ll come to school. I know I won’t be at school on my birthday! My brother has to, though. Ha ha. (Just kidding, Keenan!)

I’m excited for this week, and weekend. So what can I sing? What are your opinions?

A Special Place

I looked towards the sun as I walked down the rocky road to the beach. This was no ordinary beach, though. This was my special place…

If I walked to my special place (the beach), this is what it would be like. This never really happened, but I like to think of it like it did because it sounds so real to me.

Sun shone brightly through the tree branches. Here on this simple road, you could notice many things. I realized I was almost at the beach, so I looked ahead. A silver car drove by on the road ahead of me. I stopped. There was a man and a small dog walking to the beach too. I waved and he waved back, smiling. By then I had crossed the street and had come up to the prickly entrance-way to the beach. High tide, I thought. From the entrance-way, you could see a long stretch of land sticking out from the water. That was Gooey Island, (even though it was connected to the mainland) and my brother Keenan found it first. That is the specific special place on the beach I like best though. For a beach, it was quite different. There were beautiful houses along the shore, and there was grass on most of the houses’ yards.

I could never get tired of looking at the foaming waves rolling in and out, and the small pieces of driftwood scattered along the sandy shore of Goey Island. Trees were thick along the other side of the houses, and there was just enough of a breeze to chill me a little. No clouds in the sky, just blue and sunny. I sat down on a big log, and just stared into the icy-blue ocean.

My One Wish

My one wish would be for my Other Nanny who broke her hip. I pray and pray that she will get better. It’s really serious, especially when she was in the hospital. My wish would be exactly this:

“I wish that my Other Nanny gets better, regains her strength (is able to keep cooking perogies), and finally I wish that she can stay with us as long as she possibly can.”
