My cousin Kierra and I are so close it’s not even funny. She is my one and only first cousin, even though I have second cousins and step cousins. We have this special language where we move our hands and do actions, not make any sense at all, and one will know what the other is talking about. It’s pretty weird, but we can pass by each other’s classrooms and do a thing in our language, and the other will respond.

I was walking back to class last year, and I saw Kierra in her classroom. As soon as I walked past, I saw her look up from her work. Her teacher was out in the pod, so I could do something in our language and she’d respond to me by doing another silly action or something.

It’s awesome having a cousin to talk to and joke around with. Not many people have that with a family member that I know of, so I am thankful that I get to see her a lot. I am also thankful that she is with us on Thanksgiving!
