The City of Ember
Our class has been reading “The City of Ember”. I think it’s very good so far!
The 2 main characters are Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow. They are both 12 and attend the same school. At 12, all students must be assigned a job. This day is called assignment day. The Mayor of Ember comes to their class holding a small bag. The bag is filled with papers. Each and every one of the 12 year old students takes a random paper and that is their job until they are 15. 3 years. Lina hopes to get the job of messenger, and Doon wishes for Electrician’s helper. When their turn comes, will they be assigned the job of their dreams?

This book sounds very interesting. I haven’t read it though! But I hope to do so soon….I hope they get the jobs of their choice….won’t you tell me in your next psot?

Hello Meghna, and yes, they do get their jobs. Actually, Doon gets the job of messenger, and Lina gets the job that Doon would pick next. They trade, and everyone’s happy. We’re at the part where Lina starts her job. It’s her first shift…
